United Utilities Water Impact Study

United Utilities Water Impact Study

United Utilities Water holds the license to provide water and wastewater services to the population of the North West of England. The prices charged and the performance of United Utilities Water is regulated by OFWAT. Price limits are set every five years following a detailed review by the regulator.

To inform these periodic reviews United Utilities has commissioned Regeneris Consulting on a number of occasions to examine both the past and future economic contribution of the regulated business to the UK and North West economies. In doing so we have quantified this economic contribution in terms of Gross Valued Added, employment income and jobs, and Exchequer payments. The analysis covers both the ongoing operation of the regulated business and the associated capital investment programme. We also consider the wider socio-economic effects associated with the company’s CSR activities and its contribution to the competitiveness agenda in the UK through the provision of a modern water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure.
