University of Central Lancashire Economic Impact Study

University of Central Lancashire Economic Impact Study

The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is the sixth largest university in the UK and has a strong presence in the city of Preston. It plays an important role in supplying high level skills in the region, in widening participation, collaborating with local businesses and major employers, as well as a wider strategic role in helping to inform local economic development priorities.

Regeneris was appointed by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to produce an assessment of the range of economic contributions the university makes to the Lancashire and North West economies. We worked closely with the university to bring together a wide range of data in order to model the impacts arising from UCLan’s direct activities, its spending on suppliers, and the spending of its staff, students and visitors. In addition we examined its contribution to skills and employability, and the wider impacts arising from activities such as research, enterprise and innovation, business support, community development and widening participation.

The study is being used to support the University’s growth plans, including the implementation of the masterplan for its Preston campus.
