Stratford Economic Vision

Stratford Economic Vision

Our team was asked to undertake an extensive review of the economic characteristics of Stratford to inform the development of a future economic vision which encompassed Stratford Old Town, Stratford City and the Olympic Park.

This was a complicated assignment due to the fact that Stratford has some significant pockets of deprivation alongside huge developments. Stratford Renaissance Partnership brought together all major public and private sector partners (including Westfield and the ODA) to ensure that the opportunity at Stratford was inclusive as possible; our report was the pre-cursor to the programme of activity they sought to support.

The final report presented an economic overview, a detailed analysis of the town centre's business base and role as a local service centre, and a review of the office market and commercial/residential floor space development pipeline. A wider policy review and stakeholder consultation helped corroborate findings and hone future development themes and actions to deliver the vision. This has contributed to Stratford being recognised in planning policy as London’s newest Metropolitan Centre.

A detailed strategy to ensure that Stratford evolves as a coherent and inclusive place following the opening of Westfield and the London 2012 Olympic Games.
