Shipley Regeneration Impact
Bradford Council identified a need for a new superstore in Shipley to stem retail leakage and help regenerate the town. GMI were seeking planning permission for their proposed scheme, but were effectively competing against two other proposals. The GMI scheme consisted of a 80,000 sq. ft supermarket, café, B1 business units and a wide range of off-site benefits.
The Regeneris team was commissioned to quantify the full range of economic and regeneration benefits from GMI’s proposal. We provided a comparative assessment of employment, retail and wider impacts of the development vis-á-vis competitor proposals. Based our analysis GMI’s scheme was identified by independent appraisers as the option likely to deliver the most substantive economic benefit to Shipley and was recommended for approval by planning officers.
