Humber Offshore Wind Sector

Siemens’ commitment to invest in a new offshore wind turbine manufacturing facility could open up significant opportunities for businesses and the people of Hull and East Riding. We were engaged to identify the scale and range of potential supply chain, start-up and employment opportunities which could be captured.

Our team developed a comprehensive market assessment of the structure and scale of Round 3 offshore wind farm developments. We assessed the scope for local businesses to capture a foothold in the emergent opportunities and the skills demands which are likely to follow. The study went on to assess a series of development sites, which supply chain businesses might adopt, and the economic impacts which they could be expected to generate.

Using our expertise in Regional Growth Fund, we provided advice on prioritising project elements and developed estimates of the economic impact of the most promising proposals. Our work culminated in a series of workshops for partner staff on how to apply the Treasury Green Book to project bids and was used to underpin a successful £25m Round 2 RGF bid.
