The North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) has established a strong reputation for its work to strengthen the aerospace industry in North West England. In 2008 it needed an evaluation of its £7.8 supply chain excellence programme, a package of support designed to strengthen the competitiveness of suppliers.
Our work assessed the effectiveness and efficiency of the Programme. We met with suppliers to help us understand its impacts on their business, and provided the NWAA with recommendations to help it configure its services over the remainder of the Programme.
We found the programme to be highly regarded by businesses involved with it and by observers outside the region, and pointed to the potential for aspects of its model to be used both in other regions and nationally. We subsequently worked with the NWAA to assist them as further initiatives were developed to support the aerospace sector.
