Elsick Housing Impact Study
The Elsick Development Company has recently submitted ambitious proposals for a new settlement of 4,000 homes and 10,000 residents located 7 miles south of Aberdeen at Chapelton of Elsick.
Our work on the socio-economic impact of the proposals was part of the Environmental Statements which accompanied the full planning application for the development’s first phase, and the outline application for later phases. We assessed the number of jobs which offices, retail premises and public facilities in the settlement could accommodate, together with the wider employment impacts of spending by Chapelton’s future businesses and residents. We also assessed the likely demand for social and community infrastructure (e.g. schools, medical facilities, sports facilities, open spaces) and the extent to which proposed facilities in Chapelton would meet this demand.
