The Lancashire Colleges Impact
The Lancashire Colleges Ltd. is a collaborative association between all of the Further Education (FE) colleges in Lancashire. It brings together the thirteen FE and sixth form colleges so that they can engage with policymakers with a single voice and collaborate for mutual benefit.
Regeneris was appointed by the Lancashire Colleges (TLC) to undertake an assessment of the colleges’ contribution to the Lancashire economy. The study looked at the colleges’ role as employers and their expenditure in the local economy, quantifying the full multiplier effects using our Input-Output model. We also quantified the economic benefits generated by improving the skills of the workforce, which increases the employability and lifetime earnings of students. The second part of the study provided a qualitative assessment of how the colleges are helping to meet the skill needs of Lancashire’s key sectors.
The report was used by the colleges to inform their own strategic planning, but was also used to demonstrate the value of the colleges to key strategic partners including the Lancashire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
