East Berkshire local authorities needed a Local Economic Assessment (LEA) for the area following a move by the previous government to make these a statutory requirement.
We interrogated a range of datasets to understand the issues and opportunities for East Berkshire and its functional Economic Area. Wide ranging consultation was also carried out with local stakeholders from the public, private and third sectors in order to gather additional data to support our work. As well as providing the councils with a comprehensive assessment of the area’s needs backed up by authoritative data, we prepared a strategic response document setting out high level interventions.
Our team presented the findings at a major stakeholder event involving representatives from the public and private sectors to secure their ‘buy in’. The strategic response document is being used to guide interventions which can help the area retain its competitiveness and address the weaknesses which exist locally.
