Our team was commissioned to examine the economic impacts of the decommissioning process and to set out a socio-economic action plan for the local area going forward.
Based upon detailed analysis of available information and detailed consultation with local stakeholders, the work produced a robust assessment of the economic consequences and opportunities which are likely to arise from decommissioning over the next decade (and beyond). Building upon this, an economic action plan was produced which provided a sound basis for addressing the challenges which Romney Marsh faces in particular re-skilling the local population for new economic opportunities.
Our work resulted in Romney Marsh being re-categorised as a one of the Nuclear Decommissioning Agency’s national priorities. The plan is now being used as the basis for decision making, bid funding and resource allocation in Romney Marsh.
