Bilsthorpe Energy Centre
We were appointed by Peel to produce an economic benefits statement to support an energy from waste and recycling facility, on the former Bilsthorpe Colliery, near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. The proposed Bilsthorpe Energy Centre incorporates a materials recovery facility, to recycle residual waste and a gasification facility to generate up to 9.6MW of electricity for the National Grid.
Our role was to quantify and summarise the economic benefits and value from the Energy Centre and help Peel Environmental better understand the impact locally, across Nottinghamshire. We were subsequently commissioned to prepare the socio-economic Environmental Statement to support the planning application for the Energy Centre. A planning application was submitted by Peel Environmental in November 2013, with a decision from Nottinghamshire County Council anticipated later in 2014.
